Wildkogel Bacher-Skidoo Summercross

Motorschlitten-Rennen 2024

Snowmobile Race 2024

May 24 2024 / Wildkogel Arena

The Wildkogel Bacher-Skidoo Summercross Race is back for its third edition this year and promises to be yet another action-packed snowmobile race. The best Snowcross pilots from Central Europe will be competing against the world's most successful drivers from Scandinavia. Among them are FIM World Champion Petter Nårsa from Sweden, the FIM European Champ 2021, and Super League 2023 overall winner Gustav Sahlsten, also from Sweden. Additionally, many factory riders who have been racing in the American US Pro Tour throughout the winter will join the competition. Elias Bacher, the local hero and winner of the Central Europe Snowcross Trophy 2023 and the Wildkogel Bacher-Skidoo Summercross 2023, will be at the starting line. Other top riders from Italy, such as Federico Amadei and Marco Galli, who are among the best Snowcross pilots in Central Europe, will also participate in the race.

For the first time, the Wildkogel Bacher-Skidoo Summercross will not include selected riders but instead feature the top 12 Snowcross riders who have reached the finals of the prestigious racing series in Scandinavia, the Snowcross Super League, as well as the top 4 riders from the Central Europe Snowcross Trophy. The final race of the Central Europe Snowcross Trophy will be held as a side event on Friday, May 24, 2024.

The race track is located at an impressive altitude of 2,100 meters on the Wildkogel in the Kitzbühel Alps, right next to the summit station of the Smaragdbahn cable car. Here, you'll also find the Wildkogel Alm, the highest mountain restaurant offering a fantastic view of the race and the High Tauern mountains.

The Wildkogel-Arena is a true paradise for nature enthusiasts. Situated in a basin between 1,700 and 2,200 meters above sea level, this ski resort, due to its location and proximity to the majestic High Tauern mountains, offers perfect snow conditions well into late spring. Thanks to this snow-sure location, it's possible to prepare a snow track and host a spectacular race in the summer. The Wildkogel-Arena, where the race track is located, is complemented by the striking Great Rettenstein mountain (2,366 meters), a symbol of the region and the race itself. Spectators can reach the battleground by gondola with the Smaragdbahn in Bramberg, on foot, or by mountain bike through well-designed hiking trails and bike trails.

Snowcross motorsport is an exciting and thrilling form of off-road racing in the snow, where racers master steep curves and massive jumps at breathtaking speeds on powerful, high-performance snowmobiles. Snowcross resembles the well-known motorsport Motocross, but it takes place in the snow and requires specific techniques and equipment.

Directly at the summit station of the Smaragdbahn, you'll find the Wildkogel Alm, the highest mountain restaurant. The Alm offers a fantastic viewing terrace with an optimal view of both the race and the High Tauern mountains. Highlights include freshly prepared local dishes and homemade pizzas.
